The NEWALL SHG-AF protocol is proprietary to Fanuc, whereas the controller makes a request for positional data and the encoder has to respond correctly with data within a strictly controlled time state.  The SHG-AS is an absolute linear encoder providing a true absolute position immediately upon power-up without the use of batteries.  The SHG-AF offers the following features...
